LEONARDTOWN, MD - The Saint Marys County Department of Public Works & Transportation, in conjunction with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the MD Department of Natural Resources, is proposing to dredge the Federal and State waterway navigational channels at St. Jeromes Creek near Ridge, Maryland. The project will remove approximately 66,000 cubic yards of sand/silt from the two channels.
In order to proceed with the project, the County must secure a dredge material placement (DMP) site to receive, de-water, and permanently store the sand/silt material. At the conclusion of the project, after receiving nearly four (4) feet of material, the site will be restored with the stockpiled topsoil and stabilized with grass cover. An open site of approximately 20 acres is required, with direct access to the water and located within 1.5 miles of the mouth of St. Jeromes Creek.
If interested in leasing or selling property for this project, please contact Scott Alexander at the St. Marys County Department of Public Works & Transportation at (301) 863-8400.
