Hoyer Recognizes Charles County Local and Law Enforcement Officials for Rapid Response to Local Fire

Charles County Department of Community Services Building Destroyed

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer released the following statement today regarding the fire that destroyed the Charles County Department of Community Services Building yesterday.

"Yesterday, the Charles County Department of Community Services building was devastated by a fire. This is a loss for Charles County as this government building housed a number of critical community service programs for their residents, in addition to a day care center where 26 children received care. I am thankful that none of the children or employees were injured yesterday and I hope that they are all able to relocate their offices with little interruption to these important services. I will provide whatever assistance I can as these offices attempt to recover records that may have been lost or damaged in the fire. As has been the case in other significant events such as this, the local elected officials, emergency response teams, and law enforcement personnel responded rapidly and are working effectively in helping those who have been affected by the fire. I join the Charles County community in expressing our gratitude for their professionalism and expertise."
