Department of Community Services Announces Summer Basketball League Registration Now Open


The Department of Community Services' community-based recreational youth sports leagues are, first and foremost, intended to provide a positive social experience for young boys and girls with emphasis placed on good sportsmanship, fun, and exercise.

Open to children age 8-17 (before June 1, 2003). The registration fee is $30 and registration began March 29. The registration deadline is May 17. Practices for children age 8-10 are scheduled no later than 7:00 P.M., Monday-Thursday, at locations within child's area. Coaches will contact players for practices, which take place the week of June 23, followed by a two-game-per-week season (no practices) from June 30 to August 5. Girls and Co-Ed 14-17 will be county wide leagues.

For most sports, children are placed on teams based on area, age, height, and experience. Coaches are NYSCA certified. Players and coaches receive a team shirt. Visit your Community Center for size samples. It is your responsibilty to select the correct shirt size. Shirt sizes may run small.

Volunteer to coach and receive a 50% refund off of your child's registration fee if selected to coach refund applies to one participating child only and will be processed after the first game.
