Leonardtown is the county seat and the only incorporated town in St. Mary's County. The town is governed by Mayor Dan Burris. Leonardtown has an interesting and rich past dating from the town's inception as the site of all County Courts in 1708. We also are facing the promise of an exciting and prosperous future. Our proximity to Washington, D.C. and recent expansion of nearby Patuxent River Naval Air Station certainly insure continued growth and economic opportunities.
