The Southern Maryland Artifact Recovery Team, has formed recognizing the need for an organization of metal detecting and treasure hunting enthusiast in Southern Maryland. Our goal is to further the interests of its members with regards to metal detecting, treasure hunting, education of proper techniques and volunteerism. To foster friendships by providing recreational metal detecting activities for its members, and to educate individuals new to metal detecting in the value of research, historical preservation, and proper artifact recovery techniques.
We aim to server our community in Southern Maryland by assisting historic societies, law enforcement agencies and our neighbors in need of our assistance. We believe that those who metal detect have a responsibility to themselves, and to others in the hobby, to respect the rights of landowners and public officials and building trusting relationships as we bring history to light.
