Historic St. Mary’s City Is joining St. Mary’s County’s Raiders and Invaders festivities with a special Sunday opening focusing on the War of 1812. Join us on June 8 for concerts with David and Ginger Hildebrandt. Music of the War of 1812 reflects the times in song. Tales set to tune share the day’s happenings – the politics and sea battles; love and separation; and encouragement to enlistees. At 3 p.m., there will be an illustrated lecture, Property Gone to British, with HSMC laboratory director and curator of collections Silas Hurry at 3. Hurry will share his research on ways the War of 1812 impacted local residents, their businesses, and the economy. HSMC’s living history sites, the Maryland Dove, the Godiah Spray Plantation, the Woodland Indian Hamlet, and Town Center will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Pick up an 1812 Passport during Raiders and Invader festivities in Leonardtown on June 6 or 7 and visit free!
