Celebrate Maryland's founding where the state began 378 years ago. Festivities marking the anniversary will take place at Historic St. Mary's City (HSMC) on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Enjoy free admission to the museum's living history exhibits between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and join dignitaries and neighbors at 1 p.m. for a special program near the Visitor Center (18751 Hogaboom Lane, St. Mary's City). This year, HSMC will honor the region's indigenous people. The support the English settlers enjoyed from the region's original inhabitants helped the colony thrive in its earliest years. All are invited to join the celebration, tour the museum, and see what's new at Maryland's oldest city.
