The first capital of Maryland (from 1634 - 1695). Discover a place that has been welcoming families for more than three centuries. Maryland's 17th-century capital is a place where fun and heritage go hand-in-hand. It is an open-air living history museum that's kid friendly, with exhibits that include a square-rigged ship, re-creations of an Indian hamlet, and a plantation. Throughout the summer visitors can see archaeological excavations at the site. More photos of St. Mary's City can be found in our photo gallery.
