Purpose: To advise and assist in the content, administration, and financing of county programs designed to serve the elderly residents of the county; to keep the Board of County Commissioners informed of developments related to the elderly population and adult day care at the national, state and local levels; present to the Board of County Commissioners the consensus of the general population of St. Mary's County as it is related to the County's elderly residents and adult day care clients, and to recommend appropriate steps to take in addressing the common consensus; to provide general oversight and review of the operations of the St. Mary's County Office on Aging; report to the Commissioners on the performance of the Office on Aging in achieving the goals established by the St. Mary's County Area Plan for elderly services as well as the general performance of the Office on Aging in serving the County's elderly residents and adult day care clients; provide an annual report to the Board of County Commissioners on activities of the Commission; to work with the Director of the Office on Aging toward achievement of goals for the elderly population; and to work with the community to develop awareness and understanding of problems and concerns of the elderly population.
