This program covers a tour of the farm, safety, grooming, horse anatomy, breeds, colors, heights and weights, behavior and language, illnesses and basic horse health care, what horses eat and what they need to stay healthy, tack, a tacking-up demonstration, and horse leading.

This program aims to meet the requirements for GS Daisy Journey Badge, GS Brownie Pets Badge, GS Seniors Voice or Animals Badge, GS Junior Horseback Riding Badge, and GS Cadette Animal Helpers Badge.

The Boy Scouts Animal Science Badge and Horsemanship Badge are mostly covered except for the last requirement indicating that a scout ride on a trail ride or around in the arena independently and perform back up, turn, stop, etc. Boy Scouts seeking this badge must also go to a riding facility for the last requirement as Freedom Hill Horse Rescue is NOT a riding facility and cannot offer these services. Our horses are older in years and are not able to be ridden.

To sign up for this program, you must email freedom.hill.org@gmail.com to be given the program's access code. The program is $25 per participant for a 2-hour session that includes a 20-page take-home packet with all the information we cover.
