Historic Christ Church in Port Republic hosts the 159th Annual Calvert County Tournament and Bazaar, a much-anticipated Calvert County tradition. The event celebrates the simple family-friendly pleasures of yesteryear. In the morning, enjoy the delights of the church bazaar. Visit the children's corner for face painting and other free family activities. Savor a hot dog, fresh lemonade, and a snow cone, and take home homemade baked goods and preserves. At noon, head to the jousting field to cheer on riders as they spear rings as small as 1/4" from galloping horses. In the afternoon, there are organ recitals in the historic church, and a traditional church supper in the air-conditioned hall featuring homemade fare of deviled crab, fried chicken, ham (choice of two), potato salad, apple sauce, and more.
Bazaar is 10am-2pm, organ recitals 1pm-4pm, country supper 2pm-6pm, boxed suppers available from noon to 6pm, jousting begins at noon, and the historic Port Republic One-Room Schoolhouse open house is from 10am to 2pm.
