For over Twenty-Five years, the Southern Maryland Spring Festival has brought the local community together for a weekend of family fun with carnival rides, entertainment, food, yard sale, crafters and much more! This fun-filled, family-oriented event is a popular local event for the community and the festival showcases many of our local talents and businesses.

Holy Face Church in Great Mills, Maryland is the proud sponsor of the Southern Maryland Spring Festival.

You’ve heard of endangered species in the wild, but how about on a farm? Get up close and personal with the endangered heritage breed livestock of Piscataway Park. You’ll meet cows, sheep, hogs, and poultry and discover the role they play in saving the planet and preserving biodiversity.
This program occurs every first Saturday of the month April-November 2023 and is geared towards both adults and children. The walking tour takes place outdoors and over uneven terrain and will last approximately 60-90 minutes.
Proceeds from this farm tour support the Accokeek Foundation's education programs and land conservation work in Piscataway Park.

Visit one of the nation's best-preserved, one-room African American schoolhouses the first Saturday of each month from April to October and during Juneteenth weekend. Check out the restored schoolhouse and learn about its rich history and importance to education in St. Mary's County. Staff will be available at the school during this time to answer any questions and provide information.

The Museum Division also offers special programs for school, bus and other tour groups who would like to visit the site. Visitors who would like to see the schoolhouse outside open house hours can contact the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum at 301-994-1471.
