Summer is the time for fun and adventure. HSMC offers a great outdoor environment for creative learning. Join us for our summer workshops; designed for kids with curious minds, who want to learn a new skill.
What is experimental archaeology? Experimental archaeology is a hands-on way to gather knowledge about how things were made long ago. With limited availability of primary sources, how did Maryland’s first residents use their environment to make tools, shelter, clothing, food, and recreation? Through discussions and hands-on activities using natural resources found in the area, participants in this workshop will try to recreate some techniques of long ago while learning new skills.
$25 / Members $15
Rain or Shine. Space is limited, pre-registration with full payment required.
Register: Programs@DigsHistory.org / 240-895-4980

New Direction Community Theater will hold auditions for their production of John Van Druten’s hit supernatural comedy “Bell, Book and Candle” on Thursday, July 14, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Prince Frederick Library, 850 Costley Way, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.
The cast includes three men and two women, and production dates are Friday-Sunday, Oct. 28-30, and Friday-Saturday, Nov. 4-5.
For more information, contact director Rick Thompson via email at thompsonrinmd@gmail.com.
“Bell, Book and Candle” is the story of Gillian Holroyd, one of the few modern people who can actually cast spells and perform feats of supernaturalism. She casts a spell over an unattached publisher, Shepard Henderson, partly to keep him away from a rival and partly because she is attracted to him. He falls head over heels in love with Gillian at once and wants to marry her. Problem: A witch cannot fall in love. If she does, she loses her powers. This small imperfection leads to a number of comic difficulties, and Gillian almost loses Shepard.
