Join the students and staff of the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center for their annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 14, 2019, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the school site across from the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown. Santa will make his grand entrance at 8:30 a.m.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by the Forrest Center’s Culinary Arts students. Admission to this event, which includes breakfast, is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children 3 and younger. An omelet bar is available for an additional $2.00.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the holiday, enjoy some home cooking, and let the little ones check out the face painting, gingerbread cookie and craft rooms. Santa’s Workshop will be available for children to purchase small gifts (most under $10). Forrest Center students will assist the children. The gifts they purchase will be wrapped.

Remember to get a photo of your child letting Santa know their holiday wishes. If you forget your camera, students from the Forrest Center will photograph your child with Santa for $5. Families will receive up to five poses on a CD.

Proceeds will benefit the Forrest Center’s SkillsUSA chapter and student programs. The Forrest Center’s SkillsUSA chapter is among the most successful in the state and annually must fundraise over $25,000 to cover the cost of leadership training, chapter activities and regional, state & national competitions. For more information about SkillsUSA, go to: www.skillsusa.org.

The event may be recorded and presented on SMCPS Channel 96, the school system’s cable channel, and the Internet. For more information, contact Chef Amanda Granados at 301-475-0242, x28210 or aegranados@smcps.org.

From the moment Peter Pan eavesdrops at the Darling's nursery window and overhears Mrs. Darling reading "A Christmas Carol" to her children, Christmas becomes more spirited than ever before! Come along on this grand holiday adventure as Wendy and her brothers accompany Peter back to Neverland to share the story of Scrooge and teach the Lost Boys the traditions of Christmas. But if you think this sounds like a merry little celebration, well, to paraphrase Ebenezer, “bah humbug!” For while the ever-jealous Tinkerbell sulks at Wendy's presence, wicked Captain Hook and his zany band of pirates concoct an evil scheme to sabotage the children's festivities. Now, it's up to Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, the Darlings, and a comical, Dickens-inspired reenactment to show Hook the error of his ways and ultimately save Christmas in Neverland. For tickets, visit www.ndctheater.org.

A Serenade of Melodies
An exciting new season for the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society will begin with our opening concert entitled Winter Melodies Old and New. This concert will follow our tradition of the Renaissance flavor featuring melodies from many eras. Ave Maria and Jubilate Deo will present us with a taste of the Renaissance period. We will give you a savory flavor of Baroque and Classical music with such familiar songs as I Saw Three Ships and Bring a Torch, Jeannette Isabella. We will also have a delicious variety of more modern favorites as Jingle Bells and Silver Bells. Our featured work for the concert (our “piece de resistance”) will be a wonderful and uplifting arrangement of Christmas Spirituals entitled Shout for Joy!
Why have we tried to whet your appetite for this concert? Well, simply put, we will be offering three different opportunities for you to enjoy this concert and each one includes food!
Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 7:30—This performance will be a Benefit Concert for the Food Pantry of Peace Lutheran Church as a way to say thank you to the church that provides us, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community chorus with rehearsal space. This performance will be presented at no cost to audience members. Instead, free will donations for the Food Pantry will be accepted. We’ll also have a cookie sale with proceeds benefitting the Food Pantry.
Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 6:30—This performance includes a full Dinner, ending with Figgy Pudding or Trifle for dessert. $40/$35 for seniors, students, military
Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 3:30—Enjoy this afternoon concert immediately followed by a Dessert Reception. $15/$12 for seniors, students, military
Whichever performance you wish to attend, please bring your appetite! All performances will take place a Peace Lutheran Church at 401 E. Smallwood Dr., Waldorf, MD. Tickets are available at www.Chesapeakechoral.com or by phone at 301-642-0594.
