Patuxent River Appreciation Day (PRAD), an annual celebration of the Patuxent River, will take place at the Calvert Marine Museum on Saturday, October 12, from 10 AM to 7 PM.
This celebration creates awareness, recognition, and promotion of the economic, social, recreational, cultural, and historical impact of the tributaries of the Patuxent River and the basin through which it flows.
The festival brings together and reflects the continuing commitment of the community, Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, Calvert Marine Museum, and other organizations that share a desire to preserve the Patuxent River and to celebrate its positive influence on the area's quality of life in the past, present, and future.
By bringing these people together in a public forum, PRAD hopes to continue the interest in support of the environmental programs and tourism activities surrounding the Patuxent River and its tributaries.
NO ADMISSION FEES, NO PARKING FEES, FREE BOAT RIDES, CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES, AND LIVE MUSIC!
The format has evolved to reflect the changing times. PRAD is now a one-day event, extending into the evening hours, and will occur on the second Saturday in October each year. Join us for lots of music, food, local arts and crafts, a kid friendly zone, boat rides, toy boat building, pony rides, displays and activities celebrating the river—all the fun goings-on you have come to expect! There will also be new happenings and an evening 'river party' to top off the event in style from 5—7 PM, featuring live music by Robbie Boothe at 6 PM.
The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, Calvert Marine Museum, Arick L Lore Post American Legion, and Calvert County Waterman’s Association sponsor this event.
