Cyrus Grant "Mac" McLaughlin, 72, of Dunkirk, MD passed away suddenly May 10, 2010 while on a vacation cruise returning from China to the port in Whittier, Alaska. Mac was born June 10, 1937 in Sharon, PA to Joseph and Martha Laycock McLaughlin. He was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force Air Police from 1958 to 1962, and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. He married Margaret Ann O'Connell on June 25, 1966 and they lived and raised their family in Lanham, MD until moving to Dunkirk in Calvert County in 1972.

Mac worked as a Metropolitan Police Officer in the District of Columbia, retiring in 1981 as a sergeant. He was also a member of the Seafarers International Union, AFL-CIO Local 031, and worked as a security guard at the Seafarers International facility in Suitland, MD and occasionally at the Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, MD. In his leisure time Mac enjoyed camping, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and with his pet black Labrador retriever Millie.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his devoted wife Margaret Ann McLaughlin. He is also survived by a son Michael G. McLaughlin (Susan) of Lothian, MD; daughters Mary Elizabeth "Marybeth" Hauhn (Philip) of St. Leonard, MD, Ann-Marie Jenkins (Michael) of Dunkirk and Kerri Ellen McLaughlin (Tim Keith) of Lusby, MD, and grandchildren Jordan and Philip Hauhn and Amanda, Darcy, Bradley and Cathleen Jenkins.
