Margaret Hampton
July 31, 1934 ~ February 5, 2024

Margaret Mary (DeGrasse) Hampton, 89 years old, of Waldorf, MD passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones who comforted her during her last hours at Georgetown University Hospital.

Margaret was born on July 31, 1934 to the late George E. DeGrasse and Agnes B. DeGrasse in Washington, DC. She spent her childhood and early years in Capitol Heights. Margaret a.k.a. Marge graduated from Suitland Senior High in 1952. After high school her job was working for the DC Court System. Marge loved her time at the Golden Key Club at St. Margaret's and this is where she fell hard for the love of her life, Leonard (Butch) Hampton. They bought their first home in Forestville and then moved to Seat Pleasant. They filled their houses with three children Garry, Rosanne and Carol. Then in 1971 they moved to Waldorf, MD and stayed in Charles County for the remainder of their lives. While Butch worked for the federal government, Marge started her dream of being a nurse at the age of 40. Marge was the class representative for the first graduating class at Charles County Community College Nursing Program. She loved being a nurse working in the local hospitals and then found her love in Pediatrics for Dr. Paul and Dr. Joanne Domson, MD. She loved her time as a nurse and developed many lasting friendships with her coworkers.

In September 2022, Butch and Marge decided that sell their home and move to a retirement community Harmony At Waldorf. This would be their final home together. Retirement was filled with traveling and volunteering for their church and community. They loved spending time at their beach house in Berlin, MD. Marge would call it her "happy place". Marge was the matriarch of the family and hosted many family gatherings. Her family and Catholic faith were the most precious things in her life. Marge's soulmate Butch passed away after suffering heart issues in August 2023. These last 6 months were the hardest times of her life. She missed Butch terribly and wasn't fond of living alone. God answered her prayers one sunny Monday morning on 5th February this year which reunited Marge with her beloved Butch.
Margaret is survived by her son, Garry Leonard Hampton, daughters Rosanne (Hampton) Roy and Carol Hampton Zadeh. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Michael Pennington, Christina Hampton, Patricia (Hampton) Bowen, Victoria Zadeh, James Paul Roy and Alexandra (Ali) Zadeh. Marge was also blessed as a great-grandmother to Alexis Hampton, Bennett Roy, Esther Bowen and the newest addition Molly "Margaret" Roy. Margaret's siblings are George A. DeGrasse (deceased), Rosemary (DeGrasse) Hart (deceased), Patricia (DeGrasse) Hotchkiss (deceased), Delores Coates Evans, Catherine DeGrasse (deceased), John F. DeGrasse, Gail (DeGrasse) Keckler. We will always miss her grant smile, sharp wit, and never-ending acts of kindness.
