Shirley J. (Parris) Slusher, 80, of Dunkirk, MD, passed away Friday, November 18th of complications from heart surgery.

Shirley was born on March 9, 1942 in Battle Creek, Michigan. After graduating from Central High School, she went to Washington, DC in 1960 to work for AT&T where she met her husband of 58 years, Irven Quinn Slusher. Shirley and IQ had three children: Veronica Kaye, Nicole Jean, and William Ransom.

After AT&T, she worked as a bookkeeper at a medical facility and then went into business with her husband, IQ, forming Tax Help, Inc. Never one to sit still, Shirley also worked for the town of Chesapeake Beach and then formed a secondary company, SJS Consulting, providing computer and accounting services. Shirley was a devote Christian and has always been a member of The Church of God of Prophecy and brought the church to Calvert County.

She loved life and helping people. Her entire life was spent in service. She was President of the Calvert County School Board and board member from 1981 to 1991. She was able to present high school diplomas to her children and two grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Jody Parris Whitworth; her loving husband, IQ Slusher; her children and their spouses, Veronica and Cas Azera, Nicole and Rick Penix, and Randy and Julene Slusher; her three grandchildren, Victoria Azera, Trevor Penix, and Sophie Penix.

Shirley has asked to be cremated and a remembrance ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 29th, at 2 p.m. at Huntingtown United Methodist Church, 4020 Hunting Creek Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked friends to donate to her granddaughter at the GoFundMe site for Victoria Azera https://gofund.me/67892c5d. She was in a car accident on November 2nd.
