David Oram Duffey, 85, of Huntingtown, passed away on September 11, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born on August 15, 1937 to the late David Webster Duffey and Helen Oram Duffey in Washington, D.C.

After Dave graduated from McKinley High School in 1956, he went on to serve in the Army before starting a career in Ironworks. In December of 1959, Dave met the love of his life, Kathleen. Dave and Kathy went on to have two children, Lisa and Flint.

Dave was an adventurous man who moved his family to Canada in 1973 to open a lodge. There he used his carpentry skills and built his family a beautiful home on a lake. In 1981 they moved back to the U.S. to be closer to family. Dave re-entered the field of Ironworks where he continued his career before retiring in 1992.

Dave's greatest joy was spending time with his family. His favorite vacations were ones that included his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. But he also loved to travel with his wife, whether it was hiking some of the country's beautiful state parks or touring the Ireland countryside. Their most recent trip, and by far his most memorable, was the Galapagos Islands. As long as Kathy was by his side, he was happy. Dave loved to play cards, to tell stories, and to give life lessons. He loved spending time working in the yard, being by the pool, and working on Kathy's collection of bird houses.

Dave is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Lisa Arnott (Shaun), son Flint Duffey; grandchildren Kyle Starr (Barbara), Shelby Kavades (Louie), Dalton Duffey, Ryan Duffey, Austin Duffey (Ashtyn), and Tanner Duffey; great-grandchildren Rayden, Mikeala, Elliana, Leon, Hadley, and Turner; sister Diane Correll (Bob) and sister-in-law Jennifer Wasitis (Charles); several cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Scott Starr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to aide in the research and treatment wing for Leukemia at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, a cause about which the family feels strongly.
