Evelyn Leah Kirner Biles, 81 of Indian Head died January 18, 2009 at her home.

She was a 1950 graduate of Wilson Teachers College in Washington, DC. She taught at Concordia Lutheran School in Hyattsville, MD, was a reading specialist for 12 years in Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties, was Director of Kindergarten and Nursery in Accokeek for 4 years and for 24 years worked as a U.S. Park Ranger with the Environmental Education Program at Hard Bargain Farm, Alice Ferguson Foundation, in Accokeek. She served as President of the League of Women Voters, Charles County and as Education Chairman of the American Association of University Women, Charles County.

Born December 22, 1927, in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of the late Ernest Louis Kirner and Caroline Anna Vorrath Kirner.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Elmer Shepherd Biles, one son John Edward Biles and wife Patricia Valdes Biles and two granddaughters, Isabella Evelyn Biles and Charlotte Marias Shepherd Biles.

Burial will be private at Christ Episcopal Cemetery, Accokeek. A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 10928 Indian Head Hwy, Ft. Washington, MD 20744 at 11 AM, Saturday January 31st.
