Roy Howard Bowman, 87, of Valley Lee, MD passed away March 19, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 6, 1932 in Fairbolt, Ohio to the late Howard William Bowman and Evelyn Frances Blaisdell Bowman.

Roy enlisted in the United States Army in June 1953 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in May 1955. On June 8, 1954, he married his beloved wife, Lenora "Jean" Lab Bowman. Together they celebrated over 65 wonderful years of marriage. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montana in Business Administration in 1957. He spent his career working for the Department of Transportation for many dedicated years before retiring as a Supervisor in 1986.

Roy was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time boating, especially in Ocean City. He was a gourmet cook and prepared many delicious dishes for his friends and family. He was an aficionado of fine wines and wine making. Roy loved to listen to music but his favorite was opera. He crocheted afghans for the Veterans home in Charlotte Hall and Project Linus of St. Mary's County and supported programs that were close to his heart. Most of all Roy loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Melissa Jean Riner & her husband Duffey Riner of La Plata MD and Paul Howard Bowman of Valley Lee, MD; and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Richard Bowman.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers a contribution to Hospice of Saint Mary's County P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown MD 20650 would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A.
