Lynn Willoughby Headley, 86, of La Plata, MD died on February 8, 2020 at Genesis La Plata Center. Lynn was born on July 10, 1933 in Willard, OH to the late A. Gordon and Shirley (Pedicord) Willoughby. Lynn was married to Vernon Charles Headley in 1952. They were married for 62 years before his death in 2014. Lynn graduated from Anacostia High School in 1951. She worked as a secretary for the Federal Government, where she retired from The Naval Research Laboratory in 1991, with over 30 years of service.

Lynn was a very happy, kind woman, a "true lady". She loved her family and her many friends. She always had a smile on her face and was known to socialize with anyone she met. Lynn was loved by all who knew her. Lynn loved and enjoyed reading a book and relaxing on the beach, whether it was at their house in Colonial Beach or when she and Vernon would "snow bird" to Florida for the winter. Lynn was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, where she was the head of the drill team, leading parades and actively involved in fun, frolic, and fellowship. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, crafts, flower and vegetable gardens. Lynn loved going out for a good meal; crabs and wine were her favorites.

Lynn is survived by her two daughters: Teresa L. Greene and her husband Phil of Waldorf, and Karen S. Young and her husband Rick of La Plata; three grandsons: Brian P. Welch, Dylan S. Welch and his wife Emily, and William P. Greene; and one sister, Jane K. Willoughby. Memorial Service for Lynn and Vernon will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 2:30 PM at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Lynn's honor to the charity of your choosing.
