New County Tourism Campaign Targets Residents

It's something heard by many in St. Mary's County … 'There's nothing to do in St. Mary's County!'

County tourism officials have an answer for that and have launched a new campaign encouraging residents to "Take a Fresh Look!" at the various locations and activities available for all to enjoy.

The campaign is designed to increase awareness of and highlight seasonal events, destinations and resources around St. Mary's County and the Southern Maryland region. The information will be featured prominently on the newly refreshed VisitStMarysMd.com website.

"While we continue to promote St. Mary's County as a tourism destination, we also want to encourage residents to utilize the VisitStMarysMd.com website as a valuable resource when searching for interesting things to do here in our region," said Chris Kaselemis, St. Mary's County Economic Development director. "Dining, shopping, outdoor recreational as well as arts and entertainment activities can all be found on our newly updated website."

The campaign formally kicked off at the weekly Commissioners of St. Mary's County business meeting. Commissioner President Randy Guy endorsed the new campaign during the Commissioners Time segment.

"I have seen the new campaign postcards and posters. I believe this will help answer the questions regarding available activities in the county," said Commissioner President Guy. "The poster and post cards highlight the various activities folks can check out for themselves. I hope citizens will go to the newly updated tourism website to learn more."

The Take a Fresh Look campaign will be geared toward seasonal activities and events. The new campaign will highlight summer and fall activities. An updated campaign will launch later this year and focus on holiday season and winter events.
