WALDORF, Md. (June 27, 2016)—Ronald Anthony Crews, of Waldorf, was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 to Baltimore Shock Trauma for treatment of injuries received when his motorcycle slammed into another vehicle at a high rate of speed Sunday night around 10:15 p.m. He was initially listed in stable condition.

Police say, based on witness accounts, a 2002 Yamaha R1, operated by Crews, was traveling westbound on MD Rt. 228 at Greenwood Dr. in lane #1 (the far left lane) at a high rate of speed. A dark blue or black Chrysler PT Cruiser or Chevrolet HHR made a u-turn from eastbound MD Rt. 228 to westbound MD Rt. 228 at Greenwood Dr. Witnesses further advised the Yamaha swerved to the left, struck the unknown vehicle in the rear driver's side area and rolled numerous times causing the driver to be ejected. The unknown vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision.

Police say speed and driver error are believed to be the causes of the collision.
