Harley Rider Killed After Colliding with Stopped Car

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 18, 2016)—A man riding a Harley Davidson Road King was killed Sunday evening after colliding with a stopped car in the Hollywood area. The victim has been identified as George Alvey, Jr., 55, of Hollywood.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. on Three Notch Road in the area of Clover Hill Road in Hollywood. Police arrived on scene to discover three vehicles involved in a collision.

The preliminary investigation, conducted by the Collision Reconstruction Unit of the sheriff's office, revealed a 2010 Nissan Altima being operated by George Taylor, 54, of La Plata, was traveling Eastbound on Clover Hill Road. The vehicle was stationary, partially in the southbound lane and the median crossover, waiting to continue north on Three Notch Road. The Nissan was struck by a 2013 Harley Davidson Road King, operated by Mr. Alvey. Alvey was ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued sliding south on Three Notch Road until it struck a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, operated by Patricia Moreland, 65, of Hollywood.

Alvey suffered extensive injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, the motorcycle's speed is believed to be a contributing factor. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or any events leading up to the collision is asked to call Corporal Brandon Foor #235 at 301-475-4040.
