LA PLATA, Md. (April 12, 2016)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CHILD CRITICALLY INJURED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY CAR: On April 10, at 4:09 p.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of McDaniel Road in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation showed the driver of a Nissan Altima, 28, was traveling South on McDaniel Road when she struck a 10-year-old male who was crossing the street on his bicycle in a designated crosswalk. The child suffered severe injuries and was flown to Children's Hospital in critical condition. The child, who was wearing a helmet, was in the company of his mother and two friends when he was struck. The crosswalk is clearly marked by road notification markings and street signs. It is not immediately clear how the crash occurred, but the driver remained on the scene. The Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

THEFT FROM AUTO: On April 10, during the overnight hours, unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal the tires from a Dodge Charger in the area of Lewisham Place in Waldorf. POI Brian Rash is investigating.
