NAS Pax River Fire Taking Atmospheric Samples in Building 2188


UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: Building 2188 here has been cleared by NAS Pax River Fire for reentry.

NAVAL AIR STATION PATUXENT RIVER, Md. (Feb. 11, 2016)—NAS Pax River Fire personnel took atmospheric samples inside of Building 2188 following this morning's incident from an over pressurized container. The area has been cleared for atmospheric samples and is being surface decontaminated.

The incident occurred in one room in the building and was caused by a chemical reaction within a small container in a locker where the doors were blown open. The two personnel who were in the room when the incident occurred were uninjured.

The incident is under investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
