Charlotte Hall Woman Struck by Car Trying to Cross Road

LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 23, 2015)—A Charlotte Hall woman was injured Tuesday evening when she was struck by a car while trying to cross southbound Route 5 towards Heavy Hitters bar in the area of Route 5 and Golden Beach Road. Sandra Elaine Brickman, age 56, was ground transported to Prince George's County Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. The accident happened around 7:24 p.m.

The preliminary police investigation puts the blame for the accident primarily on Brickman. Police say she entered the roadway without yielding to oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet passenger car operated by Dale Robert Tucker, age 22, of La Plata.

Police say that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.

Anyone with any information in regards to the collision is asked to contact, Corporal Brian Connelly at 301-475-4040.
