Lexington Park Man in Custody Faces Additional Arson Charges

LEXINGTON PARK, Md.—A 20-year-old Lexington Park man already in custody on arson charges faces additional charges related to an arson that occurred mid-June.

Deputy State Fire Marshals charged Tracy Braswell of 21345 Lexington Drive with Arson 1st Degree; Malicious Burning 2nd Degree; Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,000.00; Home Invasion; Burglary 1st; and 3rd and 4th Degree and Reckless Endangerment. Investigators served Braswell with an arrest warrant at St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Braswell has been incarcerated since June 17th on charges of Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle and Arson 2nd Degree when investigators connected him to an intentionally set vehicle fire that occurred February 11, 2015.

Braswell’s current charges stem from a fire that occurred just before 1:00 a.m. on June 16th at 45910 Foxchase Drive. Investigators determined Braswell intentionally set multiple fires in a first floor apartment, causing an estimated $5,000 in damages. No injuries were reported during the incident. Deputy State Fire Marshals were assisted by detectives from St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office who executed two search warrants and later arrested Braswell at his home.

Braswell is currently being held at St. Mary’s County Detention Center on $75,000.00 bond from his first arrest and awaiting bond review on the current charges.
