Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (April 29, 2015)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF DRUGS: On April 27 at 10:50 a.m., Officer B. Cox initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of Charles Street in La Plata. Upon making contact with the driver, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. Further investigation revealed a large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car. Sadie Temitayo Lawal, 24, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

ASSAULT: On April 26 at 8:17 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Monterey Court in Waldorf for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed the victim was outside of his residence when the driver of an older model , black Honda pulled up. A passenger in the car fired a BB gun, striking the victim once in the leg. The vehicle then fled the area. Officer C. Garner investigated.

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: Sometime between 2 p.m. April 19 and 2:45 p.m. April 26, unknown suspect(s) fired a gun which struck a residence in the 1000 block of Floyd Avenue in Waldorf. No one was injured and the motive is not known. Officer R. Walls is investigating.

THEFT: On April 24 at 11:20 a.m., officers responded to the 3000 block of Waldorf Market Place for the report of a theft. A woman reported her wallet was stolen from her purse after a woman bumped into her. The victim did not realize her wallet was missing until she went to pay for her merchandise. A store employee found the wallet, but the money in it was gone. The suspect was wearing a black jacket and sunglasses. Officer V. Warker is investigating.

FUGITIVE LOCATED: On April 24 at 4:48 a.m., members of the Warrant Fugitive Unit, Child Support Enforcement Unit and patrol responded to a residence in the 17100 block of Russell Drive in Cobb Island to serve a warrant. Officers found Brandy Sue Smith-Harper, 34, of no fixed address, hiding in a closet. Smith-Harper had six open warrants and was arrested without further incident. The resident of the house was arrested and charged with obstructing justice and harboring a fugitive.
