Calvert Woman Wins $50,000 Playing 'Get Lucky' Scratch-off

BALTIMORE (January 30, 2015)—A bakery employee from Calvert County is merrily rolling in the dough after claiming the $50,000 top prize on a Maryland Lottery Get Lucky scratch-off.

The single woman was unaware that a good deed would lead to rising fortunes. Lottery luck found the 47-year-old the day she picked up a prescription for her grandmother and Lottery games for herself at the Lucky Lottery store located at 6029 Marlboro Pike in District Heights.

“She told me to keep the change for myself, so I used it to get some scratch-offs and other Lottery games,” said the happy winner. She scratched the tickets over a period of several days and was shocked to see the $50,000 win on the Get Lucky ticket. “I still can’t believe I actually won,” she said.

After sharing the news with her family, the Owings resident waited to claim her prize until she knew exactly how to get to Lottery headquarters. “I’m totally unfamiliar with Baltimore,” she said. The winner plans to share her dough with her grandmother, who made it possible for her to buy the tickets that day, and with other family members. She’ll put the rest of the prize into savings.

There are still two $50,000 top prizes remaining on this $5 scratch-off. For selling the ticket, the Lucky Lottery will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
