Calvert Woman Arrested for Embezzling Cash from Non-Profit


(Aug. 28, 2014) A Huntingtown woman was arrested on Wednesday and charged with embezzling money from a non-profit organization in Calvert County. While police did not disclose the specific amount allegedly stolen, the woman, Kimberly Sue Jones, age 38, was indicted by a Calvert County Grand Jury charging her with Theft Scheme from $10,000 to under $100,000 and Embezzlement - misappropriation of funds by fiduciary.

The criminal indictment is the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division-Central South Region. During the investigation, investigators determined that Jones embezzled the currency from June 2011 through December 2013.

Police did not disclose the name of the non-profit.

Jones is currently being held at the Calvert County Detention Center without bond. She will be scheduled to appear before the Calvert County Circuit Court for initial appearance.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Calvert County States Attorney's Office.
