MSP Reports for St. Mary's Co.

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 9, 2014)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

DUI/DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 5:58 am, Tpr. M. Johnson initiated a traffic stop on a silver passenger car for a minor traffic infraction. Tpr. Johnson asked the driver, Mitch Anthony Wathen, 28, of Mechanicsville, to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. While performing the tests, Tpr. Johnson was advised that Mr. Wathen had an active warrant through Charles County. He was placed under arrest and CDS was located in his pocket. Mr. Wathen was transported the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack to finish Field Sobriety Testing. He was then transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, CDS: Not Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Removing the Label from a Prescription Bottle, and other traffic related offenses. He was held pending extradition to Charles County. (14-MSP-020235)

ASSAULT: On Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 4:11 pm, Tpr. B. Weber responded to the Ma's Auto Body located in Mechanicsville for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Brian D. Maddox, 47, of Capitol Heights, shot a victim in the jaw with an air soft gun. Based on witness statements and signs of physical injury, Mr. Maddox was placed under arrest for Assault - Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-0202425)

ASSAULT: On Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:07 am, TFC S. Ditoto responded to the 22000 block of Sara Court for a reported domestic assault. Investigation revealed that Terell Devon Swales, 26, of Great Mills, had assaulted a female victim. Mr. Swales was placed under arrest for Assault- Second Degree and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
