Great Mills pool to close for seasonal maintenance

The Great Mills Swimming Pool will close for 12 days of seasonal maintenance and conversion to summer operation, from May 12-23. Workers at the pool will remove the air supported dome and perform scheduled maintenance during that time. The pool will reopen for normal operating hours on May 24.

Currently the pool's hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The pool is scheduled to move to its summer schedule beginning June 16. Summer hours will be Monday - Saturday 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sundays 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Change of date for Board of Appeals hearing

The St. Mary's County Board of Appeals has changed the date of the following hearing:

In the Matter of the Appeals of Robert C. Stuber, Jr. and Alice Stuber from the Decision of the Director to Decline revocation of Permit No. 12-2012, Case No. ZAAP #12-2012, Before the St. Mary's County Board of Appeals

The above stated Board of Appeals hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 27 at 10 a.m., has been changed to Thursday, April 24 at 10 a.m. The hearing will be conducted in the commissioners meeting room inside the Chesapeake Building, 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown.

All other matters that were to have been brought before the Board of Appeals on March 27 remained unchanged.

MetCom Notice of public hearing

In accordance with Section 113-5 of the Public Laws of St Mary’s County, the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission (MetCom) will hold a Public Hearing to discuss the MD 235 to Airport Road Water Main Connector Project No. 8125WM. The project will connect the existing water main located on the east side of MD 235 along the property frontage of the Chesapeake Inn and Lenny’s Restaurant, under MD 235, to the existing water main located on Airport Road adjacent to the Outback Restaurant parking. The project will provide a water system loop that will improve flows and improve system reliability. The design is being performed concurrently with the MD 235 Roadway Expansion Project for Wildewood Subdivision.

The project will include the installation of approximately 1,050 linear feet of 12-inch water main along with three (3) new fire hydrants, two (2) new service connections, and will include water main appurtenances and site restoration. The work to be accomplished is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2014. The estimated total project cost for this water line installation is $478,250.00.

The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 6:30 PM at the Commission’s offices, 23121 Camden Way, California, MD. The proposed contract documents, which include plans and specifications, can be inspected at the time of the hearing or at MetCom’s Engineering Department office location, noted above, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
