WALDORF, Md.—Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged two Waldorf men in connection with an October vehicle arson investigation. Gerald Butler, 47, and William Reeves, 48, were taken into custody on the afternoon of Dec. 6 without incident.
The arrests were a result of an extensive investigation into an October 24th fire which involved a 1990 Volvo trash truck. The truck was owned by Refuse Rescues LLC and operated by Butler. The fire occurred behind 2896 Old Washington Road, Waldorf in the parking lot at Railroad Place. The Waldorf Fire Department responded to the incident and was able to extinguish the fire in less than five minutes. The early morning fire was discovered and reported to 911 by a Refuse Rescues employee who was reporting to work to begin his shift.
Butler was charged with second degree arson, malicious burning, and fraud. Reeves was charged with second degree arson, malicious destruction of property, and first degree malicious burning. Both men are currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review hearing.
