MSP Reports for St. Mary's Co.


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 26, 2013)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: On Thursday, November 14 at 1:20 am, TFC E. Reuschling responded to the Wawa located in Mechanicsville for a reported theft. Joshua Charles Young, 29, of Mechanicsville was arrested for Theft Under $100 and transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack. He was charged accordingly and later released.

ASSAULT ON POLICE: On Friday, November 15 at 12:36 am, Tpr. K. Morris stopped with a disabled vehicle on the side of the road at Route 235 and Mervell Dean Road. Michael Lee Dyer, 43, of Chesapeake Beach attempted to flee from the vehicle. Mr. Dyer did not respond to verbal commands to stop, so Tpr. Morris pursued him on foot. When Tpr. Morris caught up with him, a brief struggle ensued. Mr. Dyer punched and kicked Tpr. Morris and attempted to remove Tpr. Morris's firearm from his holster. Tpr. Morris subdued Mr. Dyer and placed him under arrest for Assault Second Degree to a Law Enforcement Officer, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, Attempting to disarm a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1000. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, November 21 at 11:20 am, Tpr. C. Ruth initiated a traffic stop on a blue passenger car at Route 245 and Mount Pleasant Road for a minor traffic infraction. The driver, Garrick Malik Johnson, 24, of Lexington Park, had an outstanding warrant through the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office. Search incident to arrest revealed suspected CDS. Mr. Johnson was charged and transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing. He was later released to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, November 22 at 1:56 pm, TFC E. Reuschling initiated a traffic stop on a silver passenger car at Route 235 and Route 4 for a minor traffic infraction. The driver, Brandon Thomas Maples, 28, of Hollywood, was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected CDS. Mr. Maples was charged and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, November 23 at 1:35 am, Tpr. E. Krenik initiated a traffic stop on a red passenger car at Route 235 and Airport View Drive for a minor traffic infraction. The driver, William Rodney Morgan, 49, of Lexington Park, was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected CDS. Mr. Morgan was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
