Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Oct. 2, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: Between Sept. 28 – Sept. 29, someone stole the front bumper from a 2003 Ford F350 truck which was parked in the 4700 block of Crain Highway in White Plains. PFC. D. Raby is investigating.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On Sept. 28 at 10:50 p.m., a pizza deliveryman was making a delivery in the 12100 block of Ell Lane in Waldorf when he was approached by several males who assaulted him and stole his money, a phone, a pizza and chicken wings. The victim drove back to the shop and notified police. The suspects are described as teens; one suspect was wearing camouflage clothing. PFC N. Garner is investigating.

DRUG ARREST: On Sept. 28 at 6:35 p.m., officers were conducting a patrol check of the 3200 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf in response to several complaints of loitering at area businesses. Officers noticed a car parked in the lot of one of the shops and approached the occupants. The driver had an open bottle of Tequila and officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Further investigation revealed marijuana, a scale, and a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside the car. The driver, Bryan William Tate, Jr., 31, of Upper Marlboro, was charged with possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. A female passenger was not charged. Cpl. S. Hooper and Cpl. J. Burroughs investigated.

COMMERCIAL ARMED ROBBERY: On Sept. 28 at 4:11 a.m., three suspects entered a convenience store in the 2100 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. They approached a clerk, pulled a gun and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspects fled. The suspect who pulled the gun was missing a front tooth. The suspects may have fled in a light-colored passenger car. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.

FUGITIVE APPREHENDED: On Sept. 24 at 3:20 p.m., detectives with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division apprehended Matthew Leo Wade, Jr., 29, of Pomfret, who had open warrants for multiple traffic violations and possession of a stolen firearm. Wade was arrested in White Plains and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center.
