LA PLATA, Md.—The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the death of Melvin Wayne Brown, 31, of Indian Head, late last night. Officers found Brown on the ground in between two vehicles in the 600 block of Pomonkey Way in La Plata (Phoenix Run neighborhood) around 11:50 p.m. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say they were called to the area to investigate the sound of gunshots.
Detectives with the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division responded and are working to establish a motive.
