LA PLATA, Md. (April 17, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.
OFFICER ASSAULTED DURING ARREST OF SHOPLIFTERS: On April 15 at 6:57 p.m., officers responded to Mall Circle Drive for the report of a shoplifting that just occurred at a department store. A loss prevention officer observed two males conceal a pair of shoes underneath their clothing and walk out of the store without paying. The suspects then placed the shoes in a nearby car. Responding officers were provided a lookout and when Officers R. Cuyler and D. Behm arrived, they located the suspects standing in the parking lot. While the officers investigated, the suspects suddenly fled on foot. The officers pursued and one of the officers was able to catch up with one of the suspects. As the officer tried to arrest him, the suspect punched the officer in the face and injured him. The officer was still able to subdue the suspect and place him under arrest. The other suspect was apprehended nearby. Terrell Darnell Hall, 29, of Temple Hills, was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer and theft. Darius Anthony Johnson, 20, of Oxon Hill, was charged with theft.
BURGLARY: On April 15 between 5:30 a.m. - 6:15 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 5500 block of Skipjack Court in Waldorf. Once inside, the suspects stole electronics and cash. It also appears they also ate some food and discarded the trash in the victim's backyard. Officers processed the scene and determined the suspects broke out a rear window. During a neighborhood canvass, officers learned the suspects may have walked up to the front door of the house and when they didn't receive an answer, went to the back where they gained entry. BURGLARIES: On April 15, during the daytime hours, an unknown suspect broke into a house in the 6200 block of Seal Place in Waldorf and stole prescription pills and jewelry. Officers canvassed the area and located a neighbor who said they observed a male in the victim's backyard prior to the burglary. Officers continued canvassing and learned of another burglary that occurred in the 6300 block of Goral Court. In that case, the homeowner came home at approximately 4:45 p.m. and observed the door going into his house partially open. The homeowner checked the house before calling police and discovered the back door had been forced open. The only thing reported stolen was jewelry. The suspect may be a white male, slender build, approximately 6'02", brown hair, wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information should call Pfc J. ROBBERY: On April 13 at 11:55 p.m., two male suspects - who were wearing masks and armed with handguns - entered a liquor store in the 11400 block of Berry Road in Waldorf. They demanded cash from the employees and a few customers who were inside. After the robbery, the suspects fled. No one was injured. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. J. DRUG ARREST: On April 13 at 1:36 a.m., Pfc J. Walter initiated a traffic stop in the area of Billingsley Road and Worthington Drive in Waldorf. During the stop, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found inside the car. The driver, Brianca Jackson, 23, of Bryans Road, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
ROBBERY: On April 10 at 11:23 p.m., officers responded to the area of Heather Lane in Indian Head for the report of a robbery involving a pizza delivery driver. The victim was called to an address to deliver a pizza. As he exited his car, he was approached by two males who assaulted him and stole the pizzas. One of the suspects then pulled a knife and the victim ran back to his car. It was later determined the house where the pizza was to be delivered is vacant. Cpl. R. Zink is investigating.
BURGLARY: Between April 8 - April 10, unknown suspect(s) stole an air conditioner from the back of a vacant house in the 1000 block of Dorset Drive in Waldorf. Cpl. R. Gilroy is investigating.
TEEN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS: On April 10 at 7:50 a.m., a school bus driver had just dropped off a group of students at Henry Lackey High School when he noticed a film canister on the seat of the bus. He looked inside the canister and found several small bags of suspected marijuana and an ecstasy pill. The driver notified school administrators and the school resource officer. Through further investigation, officers learned the canister belonged to a student. The student, 16, was located and a similar film canister containing a small amount of marijuana was found on him. The teen was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Pfc. K. Evans investigated.
THEFT OF WHEELS: Between April 9 - April 10, during the overnight hours, unknown suspects(s) stole the wheels and rims from a car parked in the 3200 block of Westdale Court in Waldorf. Officer J. Hornickel is investigating.
