Calvert Man Arrested for Arson


CALVERT COUNTY, Md. (April 2, 2013) – On April 2 around 10:07 p.m., investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Calvert County Sheriff's Office, and Maryland State Police were called to investigate a fire at 4500 Chesapeake Avenue in Chesapeake Beach in Calvert County. Investigators arrived to find burned women's personal clothing which had been intentionally set on fire inside of a one story single family dwelling.

While on scene, Mark Sieck, age 24, was identified as the suspect. The residence was owned by Steve Sieck, and the personal property belonged to his wife. The residence was occupied at the time of the fire.

The fire, which damaged the property and residence, did not require a fire department response. Damages were estimated around $2,000. Sieck was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with Arson, First Degree and Malicious Burning of Personal Property under $500.
