St. Mary's Commissioners Hire Dismissed Chas. Co. Administrator

LEONARDTOWN, Md.—The St. Mary's County Commissioners today announced the appointment of Dr. Rebecca Bolton Bridgett to the position of County Administrator. Dr. Bridgett assumes her duties on April 15. Bridgett was dismissed from her role as county administrator by the Charles County Board of Commissioners in June 2012 in a closed session meeting. She was subsequently hired by the Charles County Sheriff's Office in July 2012 to serve as the Acting Director of the Human Resources and Administrative Services Division. As of today, she is currently employed in that position.

Bridgett replaces Mr. Jon Savich, who passed away in January at the age of 60. Savich held the position since March of 2007.

The St. Mary's Commissioners released the following credentials for Bridgett in their press release:

"Dr. Bridgett brings over a decade worth of experience in public administration to St. Mary's County. She has served in a variety of executive level positions in both local and state government. As County Administrator for Charles County, she was responsible for a $325 million dollar operating budget and $191 million dollar capital improvement budget. She successfully orchestrated the professional team presentation to the New York bond rating agencies, resulting in an improved bond rating to AAA. Her breadth of responsibilities include oversight management of all facets of county government operations, including Fiscal and Administrative Services, Planning and Growth Management, Public Works, as well as Emergency and Community Services. Her effective organizational and leadership abilities have resulted in the successful implementation of a variety of public, private, and community-wide initiatives.

"As Director of Charles County Department of Social Services, she was responsible for the administration of a broad spectrum of human service programs which positively impacted children and families throughout Charles County.

"Other key career accomplishments include serving as the Acting Executive Director of the Social Services Administration, MD Department of Human Resources, and as a member and chair of the Charles County Board of Education.

"Dr. Bridget holds a Doctor of Education from NOVA Southeastern University and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Appalachian State University, Boone, NC."
