Charles County Sheriff's Reports

LA PLATA, Md. (March 22, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

SHOOTING IN WALDORF: The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at 3 p.m. Thursday on Wingate Place in Waldorf. Preliminary information is as follows: The victim - an adult male - was in a car on Wingate Place when a group of suspects fired shots, striking the victim in the upper body. The victim was able to get to another location where police and medical personnel responded. The victim was transported to a hospital. At this point, evidence suggests this was not a random act and detectives are following leads.

Update: Three persons of interest were taken into custody on Thursday around 4:30 p.m. It appears the suspects were not standing outside on the street when they fired the shots; rather, they were all inside the victim’s car. The suspects and victim are known to each other.

CCSO DISTRICT II STATION IN INDIAN HEAD TO PERMANENTLY MOVE TO DIFFERENT BUILDING: The Charles County Sheriff's Office is permanently vacating the District II station at 4401 Indian Head Highway in Indian Head. The building was vacated on Jan. 3 after elevated levels of mold/allergens were discovered. Initially, officers worked from a command post bus located in the parking lot, but recently they were moved to the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department at 73 Glymont Road in Indian Head. Officers will continue to provide full police services to residents of District II until a suitable facility is found. A search is underway for a building, preferably on the Route 210 corridor. The non-emergency telephone number to the District II station will remain the same and citizens with questions may contact (301) 743-2222.
