NAVAIR Awards Wyle Unmanned Air Systems $24M Contract


EL SEGUNDO, Calif.—Wyle has been awarded a three-year $24 million contract to provide reliability improvement, testing, technology insertion and life-cycle analysis for unmanned air systems and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance project and programs for the Naval Air Systems Command.

Wyle's experts will support the development and refinement of processes and equipment designed to increase reliability, maintainability, sustainability, quality and interoperability while simultaneously reducing or avoiding costs. The company also provides research and assesses candidate solutions, including reliability information analysis, and development of maintenance and procedure upgrades.

These tasks are expected to improve reliability and availability as well as decrease life-cycle costs while implementing new or updated technologies and procedures.

"We are pleased that Wyle has been awarded this contract, following our successful execution of unmanned aerial system projects for the Naval Air Systems Command under a related contract over the past two years," said Rocky Rauch, Wyle program manager.

In addition, Wyle is performing acquisition planning, system interoperability assessments, integrated reliability test planning and management, affordability and life cycle cost analysis, logistics management and management tasks associated with the data collection and testing of electrical, mechanical and avionics systems.

Work, which began in late in 2012, is being performed primarily at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. The task order was issued under the Defense Technical Information Center's Reliability Information Analysis Center contract, an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity vehicle designed to assist the research, development, test and evaluation community with products.
