Local Government Schedule Changes for 4th of July Holiday


CALVERT COUNTY

All Calvert County government offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

The Calvert Pines, Southern Pines and North Beach senior centers will be closed July 4. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered to clients Wednesday.

Calvert Library locations will be closed on Wednesday, July 4.

There will be no public transportation services July 4. Regular schedules will resume on Thursday, July 5.

All Solid Waste facilities will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, and will reopen for regular hours on Thursday, July 5.

CHARLES COUNTY

The offices of Charles County Government, the Tri-County Animal Shelter in Hughesville, the Charles County Sanitary Landfill, Recycling Center, and Composting Facility off Billingsley Road in Waldorf, and the Pisgah Recycling Center on Route 425 in Pisgah will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

The Crain Memorial Welcome Center will be open for normal business hours on Wednesday, July 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Welcome Center is located at 12480 Crain Highway in Newburg. Call 301-259-2500 to contact the Welcome Center

VanGO will be operating reduced hours on Monday, July 4. All bus service will operate normally throughout the day but will end early as follows:

-- Last departures from the Waldorf transfer point for the 301 Connector, Business A, Business B, and Charlotte Hall will be at 5:30 p.m. Last departures from the Waldorf transfer point for Berry Road, Indian Head, Pinefield, St. Charles A, St. Charles B, and St. Charles C will be at 6 p.m.

-- Last departures from the La Plata transfer point for Newburg will be at 4:30 p.m. Last departures from the La Plata transfer point for the 301 Connector, Nanjemoy, and Bryans Road will be at 5:30 p.m. Last departure from the La Plata transfer point for La Plata will be at 6 p.m.

The following schedule changes and closures will also be in effect:

-- All pools will be open 12-5 for open swim. Additionally come to the pool wearing red, white, or blue and only pay $2 for daily admission.

-- Community Centers, Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center and Port Tobacco Recreation Center will be closed.

-- All park facilities will be open for normal operating hours.

ST. MARY'S COUNTY

County Government Offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in observance of Independence Day. Offices will reopen on Thursday, July 5.

The St. Andrews Landfill, six Convenience Centers and the St. Mary's Transit System (STS) will not operate on Wednesday, July 4, but will be open normal business hours before and after the observed Independence Day holiday.

The three St. Mary's County libraries will also be closed on Wednesday, July 4 and reopen on July 5 at 9:00 a.m.

All Senior Activity Centers will be closed on Wednesday, July 4 and there will be no Meals on Wheels delivery.
