MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (May 8, 2012)—The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) has released the following incident and arrest reports.

PURSUIT, CRASH, DRUGS & DUI: On May 7 at approximately 0053 hours, Trooper First Class A. Watson was patrolling Livingston Road near the Indian Head Rail Trail Park located on Livingston Road, north of Hawthorne Road, Indian Head, when he observed a black Hyundai pull into the park. The male quickly exited the vehicle and briskly walked towards the wooded area. TFC Watson initiated contact with the vehicle and occupant by activating his emergency lights. TFC Watson made contact with the driver David Adam Jackson, 45, of Indian Head, when he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. At than time the passenger, later identified as Lewis Andrew Washington, immediately ran back to the vehicle after urinating and the driver quickly accelerated fleeing from TFC Watson at a high rate of speed. A pursuit began from Indian Head Rail Trail Park and ended on Strauss Avenue when the driver lost control and hit an embankment. The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Jackson was apprehended and placed into custody. Jackson was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS and Paraphernalia, DUI and numerous traffic violations.

WARRANT ARREST: On May 7 at approximately 1400 hours, Trooper T. Davis was at 5520 Brice Chapel Road, Bryanstown, investigating and attempting a warrant service for Domonic Jeral King. While there, Trooper Davis made contact with Dwayne Antono Butler, when he smelled the odor marijuana emitting from Mr. Butler. In an attempt to search Butler, he took off running. Trooper Davis began a foot chase, which ended in the investigative detention of Butler. Butler was taken to Trooper Davis' patrol vehicle when Bruce Matthew Lyles Jr., 27, of Bryanstown, walked towards Trooper Davis and Trooper K. Robinson (who was assisting Davis) screaming, and was advised to step back, and continued to scream and ignore all verbal warnings from the Troopers. Lyles was placed under arrest and charged with obstructing and hindering a police officer in the performance of his lawful duties. While leaving the scene with Lyles, King pulled into the residence and TFC M. Newman arrested King and served the warrant without further incident.
