MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (November 9, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT 1ST DEGREE: On Sunday, October 23 at 5:46pm, Tpr. E. T. Reuschling responded to a look out provided by the Emergency Communications Center indicating the occupants of a red Ford Explorer were observed brandishing a weapon. Tpr. Reuschling observed a vehicle matching the description provided in the area of Pegg Road and conducted a traffic stop. As the stop was being conducted, the occupants were attempting to exit the vehicle prior to being approached, Tpr. Reuschling ultimately had to have the occupants exit one at a time and detain each subject until additional back up arrived on scene. Upon the arrival of additional units, a search of the vehicle was conducted revealing a rifle style BB gun. All occupants of the vehicle were identified, as well as complainants of the incident. Information obtained by complainants, revealed that the vehicle was in the area brandishing the weapon, believed to be a real gun. One of the vehicle occupants pointed the BB gun directly at a child, who was also interviewed by Tpr. Reuschling. Based on information provided by witnesses and the suspect, a female juvenile, 17, of Lexington Park, was placed under arrest for First Degree Assault. The female was transported to the 46000 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park where she was released to a guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, October 24 at 5:36pm, TFC G. A. Thompson responded to reports of reckless operation by a tan Ford truck. The complainant provided detailed information regarding the actions of the operator and the location. TFC Thompson attempted to locate the vehicle on a dirt road off of Friendship School Road where it was last observed. The vehicle was located and occupied by a male subject, identified as Glenn Allen Kanowicz, 51, of Mechanicsville. As TFC Thompson approached the vehicle, he observed in plain view a bag of CDS in Mr. Kanowicz's hand as well as smoking device within reach. Mr. Kanowicz was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Marijuana and CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Tuesday, October 25 at 12:42am, TFC M. A. Moore responded to Great Mills Road in the area of Queen Anne Apartments for a report of an assault and theft of property. Upon arrival, contact was made with a male complainant, 46, of Lexington Park, who advised while walking in the area he was accosted by two subjects demanding money and cigarettes. According to the complainant, after an exchange occurred between him and the two subjects, he was attacked with rocks ultimately falling and further injuring himself. A juvenile male, 16, of Lexington Park, who was in the company of the subject when the assault began advised he left the scene to locate assistance, upon returning to the scene he observed a male subject standing over the complainant in the threatening manner. The juvenile informed the subjects that law enforcement had been contacted, and both subjects fled the scene in the direction of Great Mills Road. The complainant was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for medical treatment. Located a short time later within distance of the crime scene, were two male subjects matching the descriptions provided by the witness and complainant. Both subjects were positively identified by the witness as being involved in the incident and detained for further questioning. Following statements from both subjects, they were arrested for Second Degree Assault and Theft Under $100.00. Kevin Jerome Chase, 41, of Lexington Park, and Thomas Raymond Banks, 55, of Lexington Park, were both transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged accordingly. They were held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, October 25 at 3:24pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy Cobalt for a traffic violation in the area of Mervell Dean Road and Beck Road in Hollywood. Upon approaching the vehicle, contact was made with the operator, William Michael Chappel, 27, of Indian Head. A MVA query of Mr. Chappel's driving status revealed that he was currently suspended. During the initial contact, TFC Pitcher observed and requested to search the vehicle and was verbally granted by Mr. Chappel. The search of the vehicle revealed CDS in the rear pocket of the front passenger seat. Mr. Chappel was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS - Not Marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged prior to being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, October 27 at 8:10pm, TFC G. A. Thompson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15196) on Franklin R. Bumpers, 60, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued with an original charge of Driving While Impaired by Alcohol on October 27 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Bumpers was located in the 45000 block of Fox Chase Drive in Lexington Park and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, October 28 at 12:00pm, TFC J. S. Gibson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15184) on Robert Abbam Tetteh, 50, of Lusby. The warrant was with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License by the District Court of St. Mary's County on October 19. Mr. Tetteh turned himself into St. Mary's County Detention Center, where TFC Gibson responded. Mr. Tetteh was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, October 29 at 3:40pm, TFC A. J. Malaspina served a Bench Warrant (T3-15004) on Roberto Garcia Rojo, 26, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on June 22 with an original charge of Driving Without A License by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Rojo was located in Lexington Park, MD and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, October 29 at 5:45pm, TFC E. M. Evans served a Bench Warrant (T3-15188) on John Michael King, 32, of Lusby. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on October 21 with an original charge of Possessing Suspended License and Driving On A Suspended License. Mr. King was located in Lusby, Maryland and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Tuesday, November 1 at 6:30am, TFC G. A. Thompson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15192) on Tanisha Latoya Nolan, 21, of California. The warrant was issued on October 25 with an original charge of Theft Less Than $100.00 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Ms. Nolan was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 3 at 12:41pm, Cpl. M. W. Laney and Tpr. S. M. Morton served two outstanding Bench Warrants (T3-15166 / T3-15131) on Michelle Lee Anderson, 36, of Lexington Park. The warrants were issued with original charges of Driving On A Suspended License and Did Willfully and Knowingly Create Provide False Evidence by the District Court of St. Mary's County on September 16 and October 7. Ms. Anderson was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 3 at 8:35pm, TFC G. A. Thompson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15202) on Ashley E. Grant, 21, of Lexington Park. The warrant was issued on February 3 by the District Court of Charles County with an original charge of Driving Without A Required License. Ms. Grant was located in the area of Maryland Route 235 at Exploration Park Drive in Lexington Park. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, November 5 at 6:00pm, TFC J. S. Gibson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15198) on Mishealah Kathleen McBride, 21, of Hollywood. The warrant was issued with an original charge of False Statement to Officer on October 28 by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Ms. McBride was located in the 43000 block of Mustang Court in Hollywood and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
