St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (September 30, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT: On September 29 at approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Torino Drive in California for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Ivee Cai, 41, of California, engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Cai took used a butcher knife to cut the victim on the hand. Deputy Kenneth Flerlage responded to the scene. Cai was arrested and charged with first and second degree assault.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On September 29 at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Independence Drive in Mechanicsville for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Kelly Elizabeth Braxton, 29, of Mechanicsville, engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Braxton struck him in the face multiple times and used a broom to strike the victim in the abdomen. Deputy D. Snyder responded to the scene. Braxton was arrested and charged with second degree assault.

SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On September 30 at approximately 3:45 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on Upland Road located in Chaptico for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Richard James Rhodes, 39, of Leonardtown, engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Rhodes choked the victim and threw her into a closet. Deputy S. Hawks responded to the scene. Rhodes was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
