MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 29, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, August 26 at 12:37am, TFC J. C. Hardesty conducted a traffic stop on a Mercury Sable in the area of Maryland Route 235 and MacArthur Boulevard for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, TFC Hardesty detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Bruce Von Ray Joyner, II, 30, of Lexington Park was identified as the operator and asked to exit the vehicle for a probable cause search. Results of the search revealed CDS in the center console of the vehicle, in the form of rolled cigarettes. Mr. Joyner was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, August 27 at 3:16pm, TFC G. A. Thompson responded to the area of Maryland Route 235 and Exploration Park Drive for a reported motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, contact was made with the at fault driver, George Leo Bean, Jr., 50, of Valley Lee. While speaking with Mr. Bean, TFC Thompson detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Mr. Bean as asked to exit the vehicle to perform a Standardized Field Sobriety test. Mr. Bean's unsuccessful completion of the test, resulted in him being placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. While attempting to locate Mr. Bean's keys, in an effort to remove the vehicle from the roadway, TFC Thompson observed in plain view, CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Bean was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack where he was processed for DUI and issued a criminal citation with a mandatory court date.
