St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 21, 2011)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: On July 21 at approximately 12:51 a.m., patrol units responded to the intersection of Cheryl Court and Golden Beach for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed a 2005 Harley Davidson Motor Cycle was traveling east bound on Golden Beach Road operated by Bracy Allen Sink, 43, of Mechanicsville. The operator was ejected off the motor cycle and struck a telephone pole. He was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Alcohol or speed has not been determined as a contributing factor in the accident. CRIME PREVENTION AND TRAFFIC SAFETY OPERATIONS: On July 15, the Sheriff's Office, in a continuing effort to reduce crime, improve driver safety and awareness and address quality of life issues such as loitering, drinking in public, vagrancy and panhandling conducted an operation in the Hollywood / Lexington Park area of the county. As a result deputies issued 23 traffic citations, conducted 38 traffic related vehicle stops, issued 9 written warnings, recovered 4 vehicle registration plates, towed 4 vehicles, arrested 1 driver for DUI and issued 5 alcohol related citations. Similar operations will be conducted in other areas of the county throughout the year.

THEFT SCHEME: On July 20, Deputy Jaime Grusholt responded to the Walmart in California for a report of a theft. Deputy Grusholt learned that Teneshia N. Daugherty, 23, of Lexington Park, was observed by store staff giving away merchandise while working as a cashier. The theft scheme occurred over about month and a half period resulting in a loss of $6,159.60. Daugherty was arrested and charged with Theft and Theft Scheme Under $10,000.
