Waldorf Teen Struck, Killed by Car

LA PLATA, Md. (June 6, 2011)—A 14-year-old Waldorf boy died Saturday as a result of injuries received when he was struck by a car on MD Route 228 (Berry Road) west of US Route 301 in Waldorf. Police did not release the boy's name due to his age.

Maryland State Police were called to the scene at 1:05 p.m. Saturday. They determined that the boy was attempting to cross all lanes of eastbound MD Route 228 when he was struck while in lane No. 5 by a 2010 Ford Expedition operated by Glenda Natalie Thomas, 38, of Bryans Road. Police say Thomas remained at the scene.

The boy was transported to Civista Medical Center via ambulance with head and internal injuries, where he succumbed to the injuries.
